The John Scott Award is given annually to the ADHL deemed to be the most active, eager, congenial, and easy to deal with in trade discussions. Please note that it is up to the voter to decide how to weight the different aspects of the criteria. In 2015-16 this award was given to the GM deemed most congenial in general, an award that was fittingly split between Duncan of the Ottawa Senators and Matt of the St. Louis Blues. The 2016-17 nominees are:
Matt (STL): Last year's winner of the award when it was simply rewarding congeniality, Matt certainly is one of the friendliest GMs to deal with in the league. Although only average in terms of trades made with 15*, Matt still is certainly an active trade talker who is always willing to make a deal.
Tim (CAR): Second in the league in terms of trades made with 47 and first in terms of teams dealt with at 22, Tim is undoubtedly one of the top dogs in terms of trade activity. He's one of if not the most likely guy in the league to hit you up out of the blue about a player or a block and he's usually open to different types of deals. Where Tim may fall short, however, is in the congeniality department. Although generally friendly in trade discussions, Tim has had the occasional spat occur during talks with GMs such as Grogers, Casper, and Hertl.
Zack (VAN): He led the league in trades made with 48, so it's clear he's extremely active in trade talks. No one is more likely to randomly get the trade itch than Zack, who has more than once gone fishing in the Shoutbox for any deals he can find to discuss. Time after time he shows his passion for fantasy hockey GMing. He's also noted as being one of the league's nicest members and least likely to get upset if he doesn't like your trade suggestion. A true all-around easy to talk to guy when it comes to trades.
