Our playoff tiebreakers aren't very robust. Nick raised this issue midway through the year and we didn't do anything about it. I didn't even participate in that thread -- apologies. It's looking likely that CHI & NSH will end their round 1 matchup tied. We set the tiebreaker as GP, but they're tied in that also. We need to fairly decide a full sequence of tiebreakers. I suggest the last one is home-ice advantage, i.e. who is the higher seed / had the better regular season record. That can only ever be one team so works well as a final tie breaker. We could still have other tie-breakers before that point, because as Koommz suggested it's probably better to have the tiebreaker come down to something that happened in the matchup. Goals was suggested in the shoutbox. H2H record from the season was also suggested. Keep in mind both of those could end in a tie too. I'm not sure what is best to be honest. Perhaps: Tiebreaker #1: lower GP in matchup Tiebreaker #2: most goals in matchup? Tiebreaker #3: higher seed Thoughts? @nick TampaBayBolts (Josh) matt (STL) @cliff11 Dr Tommy Vlasic Pickles (DAL)

Not sure if this is supposed to be a RC-only meeting, but I'll weigh in and say I think higher seed (and thus "home-ice advantage") makes the most sense. Also makes regular season matter more for teams sure to make the playoffs.

Hah! Wrong rules board.
I'm a big fan of transparency so happy to have it all out in the open if others are.
