The Lady Byng Memorial Trophy is an annual award given to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability; players who excel in scoring categories and not much else: Your 2015/16 nominees are... TSN GINO REDA'S TAKE: Patrick Kane - Los Angeles Kings: "Kane's a smug faced son of a gun who models himself after his younger General Manager, Sam Grogers, who is also an upstanding citizen who cannot be bogged on the scoresheet." Johnny Gaudreau - Calgary Flames: "A polite young man that looks like my great grandson. Ain't he something." Artemi Panarin - Chicago Blackhawks: "As well well mannered as they come, or as they say in Russia...Klassnyy paren'!" Did the ADHL make the right decision? Should someone else have been nominated? Voice your opinions and comments below! The ADHL will be releasing Award Nominees periodically throughout the week, so check back often.

So this is like the anti-periphs award? Tough to look past Gaudreau for this one.

When I think periphs I think hits, blocks, important events, rare events, SHTOI. I consider shots and PPP in the same regard as goals, assists, and points since they all tend to go together.
If you consider PPP and maybe shots as periph cats then my vote would prob be different.

one of them has the equivalent of zero impact on the non-scoring categories. has my vote.

It'll be interesting to see how this type of player holds up in our league over time. We're already noticing a devalued state in favor of periphs, but I think it was Kimmer that said eventually some people are going to capitalize on the market and create a monopoly on the devalued.
On another note, who could have imagined at the start of the season Panarin would be up here in this group? What a season.

This is intended to be the anti-selke, so consider it like "best offensive player who doesn't help on defense"

3 finalist limit. Lots of guys could have been nominated for a lot of awards that won't be. Tarasenko could have easily been here.
