Beauchemin's such an interesting case. Middle of the road offense and hit number, but absurd SHTOI and blocks. For me it's Buff Uhhhh...Burns outpaces him in almost all categories. Buff has more than twice as many hits and PIM and equal SHTOI. Only defensive cats he trails Burns in are blocks

That is the category. Overall includes offensive production. If the award was for who is the best periph defender then you might have a case.

Not really, on periphs alone Buff isn't close to top-3.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting it, I figured this was best dman ignoring offense, no?

Maybe I'm misinterpreting it, I figured this was best dman ignoring offense, no? There is more to being a defender than just their defensive play in one zone. When you say overall you are implying who is the most impactful player at his position overall.

That's true, I just thought because we had the Orr this was supposed to not really include scoring.

well, I intended the Orr to basically be the art ross for Dmen as that's basically how the Norris is voted now adays in real life. That, way the Norris would be free to be voted up the way it was intended to be lol, as the best overall Dman. However the Orr took a turn, which I have zero issues with, and is a voted upon award now of who we deem the best offensive dman is. It kind of confuses it haha. I like either the way I intended the Orr to go or this way, doesn't matter but yea, Norris has to be best all around Dman. which is obviously different in fantasy than it is in real life, which makes both Buffy and Burns great nominees.

I think it's clear who varying people's interpretations of this award are based on the nominations. Burns is a great offensive guy with very good periphs. Buff is a good offensive guy with great periphs. Beauchemin is an average offensive guy with outstanding periphs.

Write in ballot for Shea Weber, guy is high end in every single category. And IRL plays the best D.
