Carter - Best FT score of any skater Dubnyk - best FT score of any goalie Kesler - best player on the best team

I would have voted Crosby, does more than Carter in less GP to make up for the lack of SHTOI.

My definition of an MVP is a player that has the greatest impact on his own team. With that said, Ottawa and Winnipeg are both top 5 skater teams and would still likely be so without Carter or Kesler. Minnesota arguably doesn't even make the playoffs without Dubnyk.

See the FT scores assumes all stats are equal, once again, compared to standardized comparison it overvalues the high-frequency stats compared to those who do not contribute.
So yes Kesler had PIMS and Hits and shtoi plus fow, but most weeks he actually lost the sum category count to Crosby...
The impact of C & G are over-stated compared to wingers on the basis of 0 scores on categories. Penalty killers (0- and hitters have similar benefit compared to those who don't.
Stacked with the low variance among the scoring categories (0-40g, 0-65a, 0-90pts, 0-30stpts, etc) and you have a situation that makes it appear like scorers do not do as much as others, but that's because "do as much" is a scale relationship to the #frequency of the measured event. Goals are not as common as a hit, assists are smaller numbers then faceoffs, power play points are way lowered then PIMs, and therefor the variance between good and great is lower, but the importance is winning weeks by categories, and scorers do huge work there. On the year Sid may only have 30something more points, but that's the entire margin of a good scoring Dman.
Not having the big point guys among MVP consideration is a miss IMO.

We felt, that Crosby wasn't as important to the success of the ADHL Pens as Kesler and Carter were to OTT and WPG. Has more to do with that, than a blank look at stats but I oversimplified above and probably made it appear that way.
Here is some logic used. When's the last time the leading scorer didn't get a nomination for MVP? Well for us, as we count more than just points, that was Carter. When was the last time the best player, from the best team wasn't nominated? Well that's kesler. Now, when's the last time a goalie almost single handedly carried a team to the playoffs and didn't get a nomination? That's Dubnyk.
All fair points by you guys but some of the arguments are directed at who the best player was this year and that is not this award. This award is for who was the most important to their team.
I don't think we could come to three consensus picks and make everyone happy. Realistically, Burns had the statline but played for 3 different teams, hard to justify. Marchand easily could have made the cut but when he's on a team with Ovi, Backstrom and other top dogs, he seems slightly less important. Goalie Bob was another one, he was lights out all year and easily could have been nominated but we tried to limit this to one goalie and dubnyk meant more to Minny than bob to Dallas.

Imo Dubnyk needs to be here because he had the greatest single impact of any player on any team in adhl this season, Kesler was the best adhl player all year, and Carter probably shouldn't have made the cut. Even so, Dubnyk is the most deserving player regardless.
