The Calder Memorial Trophy is an annual award given to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition in the Armchair Dynasty Hockey League: Your 2015/16 nominees are... TSN Craig Button's Take: John Gibson - Winnipeg Jets: "John Gibson is as good in the crease as he is in the Hollywood nightclubs. You know the saying the puck stops here? The babes stop here too." Artemi Panarin - Chicago Blackhawks: "He's a little older, a little more mature, but boy is he a good hockey player. He'll kill you with his speed, and that's some really spicy cabbage on the top of his head." Colton Parayako - St. Louis Blues: "Not your traditional Calder nominee by any stretch but Colton Parayako is deserving to be on this list. He's devastating to play against and makes it a real challenge for his opposition to play against. He won't amaze you with the points, but it's his all around skill and determination that will ultimately dazzle you." Did the ADHL make the right decision? Should someone else have been nominated? Voice your opinions and comments below! The ADHL will be releasing Award Nominees periodically throughout the week, so check back often.

Tough to limit to 3 candidates here I imagine.

Yup ghost bear too but he's not great h2h. No one even brought up Larkin but his 2nd half hasn't been up to snuff. Parayko's stat line actually surprised me here.

Eichel's the clear guy we left out IMO, but I don't think I'd put him ahead of any of these nominees

Not sure if Gibson is really groundbreaking and exciting like these other guys, he's a properly developed goalie ready for the NHL being brought in with a reasonable workload. Parayko burst onto the scene and far surpassed what most expected. Planarian almost PPG and looks like he's for real. Eichel, Larkin, Domi, all had awesome impacts.

Parayko, as a dman, managed 27 pts, 85 hits, 103 blokes, and 60:26 in SHTOI
That's quite a full stat-sheet, especially for a rookie.

Keep in mind h2h impact comes into play here too, we are playing with some different criteria than the NHL's version of the award. No way does Parayko make the final three in the NHL, but here he was better than Larkin or Eichel. Haven't looked up Domi but I assume he has him beat too.
awards doing what they are supposed to though, stirring up some hockey debates/talk, I like it.

I think Eichel may have been the biggest difference maker in our league, remember lots of guys do h2h stats, very few score points on a meaningful level.

Eichel gets my write-in vote for this format.

Eichel would have had a big impact but if this is supposed to be meant for the ADHL season, Eichel was slid in our league... So i would say that fact makes him ineligible as he never played an impact for any team in this league.

So I guess you could technically not count Eichels first 10 NHL games then if you're using accrued ADHL stats only.
